JOB DESCRIPTION : NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

Location: Islamabad

 

Job Definition:

 

Network Administrator shall be responsible for maintaining the IT infrastructure of a Bank. He shall be responsible along with his team for ensuring round the clock availability of the Bank’s IT infrastructure including desktops, servers, Local Area Network and Wide Area Network.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and monitor networking setup such as firewall, routers, content services switches and VPN gateways

  • Monitor log files, network traffic and access logs to detect and remediate any performance or security issues.

  • Work closely with the IT executive staff and decision makers in other departments in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization

  • Developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure and data communications
    Select and maintain technical solutions/tools as necessary for delivering IT service capabilities, and create and continuously improve the standard procedures utilized by the team to deliver them.

  • Keep all environments up to date with release patches and updates.

  • Maintain Firewalls, Switches Layer 2/3, Routers

  • Managing VLAN's , Network Security, ACLS and network devices.

  • Experience with standard UTP cabling practices

  • Administering and maintaining Windows 2000/2003 Server infrastructure, with emphasis on installing and maintaining server software.

  • Analyzes all Windows related systems and identifies problems; system upgrades/patches, installation procedures, reviews procedures and work flow, evaluates data, defines information requirements, designs solutions to identified and defined problems, documents analyses and evaluations.

  • Develops and documents systems requirements; details problem resolutions, designs programs, outlines data inputs and outputs, defines procedures to be followed.

  • Consults with users on system requirements, organization, and operations; identifies problems, defines needs, and gathers information and data.

  • Tests system solution in simulated production environment, debugs’ documents application with flowcharts, outlines, narrative descriptions, and systems manuals; installs applications, trains users, and monitors systems for function and efficiency.

  • Maintains and refines routine and/or complex information systems and programs; trains users in systems applications and interprets results, responds to and resolves user problems, completes technical enhancements and modifications of and updates existing programs, maintains system files.

  • Advises supervisor on equipment requirements and problem areas and makes recommendations for solution of problems.

  • Reviews and evaluates new equipment and software offerings and recommends for purchase, as appropriate; advises users on hardware and software alternatives; determines standards for selection of software.

  • Responds to user requests for service; troubleshoots problems and develops solutions; makes minor repairs to equipment and arranges for other servicing needs.

  • Provides on-call support after business hours by responding and addressing automated alerts as well as user reported problems.
